APPLICATION AND REGISTRATION INFORMATION
*(Student stipends - $500 per course - available at end of June to help defray the cost of tuition, books, housing and incidentals)

To apply and register for courses:

New students or students who have missed a semester must go to http://admissions.uno.edu/app.cfm for application information. Once accepted you may register through the WEBSTAR link on the UNO homepage (http://www.uno.edu ). All current UNO students can register for these classes as they usually do through WEBSTAR.

HOUSING INFORMATION

On-Campus Housing Available in Pontchartrain Halls (our brand new residence halls

http://housing.uno.edu/PontchartrainHall.htm ). Pontchartrain Halls (north and south) are located in the middle of campus near our new state of the art athletic center, our refurbished multi-purpose student center & and textbook store, and a short walk across campus to the UNO library, and our classrooms.

Pontchartrain Halls (North and South) have:

  • Four person, two person and single suites with wired free internet (must activate your UNO e-mail account), cable TV and local telephone hook-ups
  • ALL private locking rooms, with individual sinks and full bathroom (share in quad or double with only one other roommate) and shared suite living room.
  • Extra–long single beds (you supply bedding, towels or ask about rental)
  • On-site parking
  • Communal kitchen
  • Game room
  • Laundry facilities
  • Convenience store
  • UNO police substation on-site
  • Study rooms and lounges with wide-screen TV and wireless internet

Cost: $20.60 per night for a quad room

(You must make arrangements with housing and plan to pay them directly. Tell them you are with The Louisiana Low Incidence Disabilities Consortium Group [LA-LIDC]).

Louisiana Tech University - Consortium Course Offerings

EDCI 436 Braille I   (3 cr) Online Videoconferencing course (Please contact Dr. Ryles (318 257 2028) for information regarding online course equipment requirements) Students develop proficiency in reading and writing the Literary Braille code. Students will use slates & Perkins braillewriters.

EDCI 579 Developmental Aspects of Blindness (3cr)  Second summer session Course emphasizes physical, social and emotional development of blind/visually impaired children including acquisition of motor, language, and cognitive skills, birth through adulthood.

EPSY 584 Internship in Orientation & Mobility (6cr)  Prerequisite: EPSY 583 or permission of instructor

EDCI 576/530 Internship/Student Teaching in Education (3-9 cr) By application only

PSYC 490 Social and Psychological Aspects of Blindness (3 cr) Second summer session(Cross listed with EDCI 579 Developmental Aspects of Blindness) Course emphasizes physical, social and emotional development of blind/visually impaired children including acquisition of motor, language, and cognitive skills, birth through adulthood.
